It seems the world wasn't quite done delivering just deserts to the man primarily responsible for the road rage internet video du jour, 'Instant Karma.'
A woman filmed a man apparently tailgating her on a road in Tampa, Fla. last week.
Shortly after he's seen flipping her off (in video above) he loses control of his truck, spins across a median and through oncoming traffic. He comes to a rest only after taking out a light pole.
"That's what you get," the woman says, laughing loudly. "All on video, buddy."
The YouTube video has garnered millions of views since it was posted March 26 and now, WTSP reports, the man in the video, who police said is 33-year-old Jeffrey White, was arrested.
Cops said they used footage to get White's license plate number. He was charged with reckless driving, leaving the scene, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Authorities didn't reprimand her for filming the incident instead of keeping all her attention on the road. Instead, she said to WTSP, they were thankful that the footage helped them collar the culprit.
Okay so by now everyone has seen this video. Dude seemingly just being the biggest dick on the road gets his ass whooped on by karma and wrecks his sweet F-150. Well now it turns out that the cops have found his license plate number from the video and slapped the cuffs on him, adding a bit more insult to injury to say the least. Gotta sting when you already come off as a big prick just to learn that you're about to spend a few nights at least in da clink.
But that's not why I posted this. Yeah yeah, the guy deserved it, this was life coming back to get him, you get what you give, love is a battlefield, etc. I agree. But am I the only one interested in what went down before the camera started rolling? I mean no excusing driving like this asshole Jeffrey White did, but I think we're letting this woman off the hook a bit. I've been stuck behind bad drivers, I've felt road rage boil inside of me, and to be honest, I have wanted to pull up next to the idiot in front of me and just start making whatever gesture pops in to my head to express my hatred for that person whom I've never met.
And from the looks of it, this chick may have had it coming. I mean are we really just going to assume that we've got a total random act of the most absurd road rage ever?* Let's look at the facts:
Fact 1) Driver is a woman. "Oh that's so sexist, such a stereotype..." blah blah blah. Look, there are plenty of things women do better than men, driving just ain't one of them. It's insane the number of times I've noticed a bad act of driving only to discover that a woman was the mastermind behind it all. This is assessment is based on absolutely no facts, just experience, and like Einstein said, "the only source of knowledge is experience," so was Einstein sexist? Didn't think so.
Fact 2) She's fucking filming this whole thing while driving. Like that was seriously my first thought when I put this thing on. Not that this dude was tailgating her, that I've seen and can understand, but that this woman was filming the scene going on BEHIND HER while driving. I had to really study for a second to confirm that it wasn't being recorded by a passenger. Nope, just a chick speeding in the left lane of a two lane highway with her phone expertly capturing the story taking place near her rear bumper. That tells me a lot about what kind of driver she probably is in general, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if she was responsible for whatever that one dumb move was that made Jeffrey snap and go full Mad Max on her.
I think the cops are being pretty outrageous by going as far as to call her video helpful while at the same time adding a no seat belt charge on this guys record. I'm not sure I'd go praising the girl who doesn't watch the road over the guy who has no regard for his own safety. Again, this dude deserved that crash for sure and maybe even the arrest, I just think we're potentially letting the most dangerous driver in this situation walk scott-free.
* It is Florida, I will concede that if any state would foster a completely random act of this type of aggression it would be this one. She could be a hero in that bizzaro land.
