So here's how it works:
This pool works best with 4 or 8 participants. Take turns drafting teams (snake draft style) until all 32 teams have been picked. Award points after each game, a win is worth 2 points, a draw is worth 1, and a loss is worth 0. You can choose to use the total points at the end of the Group Stage Matches or you can continue accumulating points through the whole tournament. The participant with the most points in the end wins.
If you don't know how a snake draft works, basically each person randomly selects a draft order (1 through however many are in your group), and at the end of each round, the order of the draft reverses. So an example: if you're in a group of 5, at the end of the first round, the person with the last pick will get the first pick to start the second round, and so on.
Here's what the groups look like if you don't know:
I just did one with some friends and came up looking like this:
That's a fucking STACKED squad. Germany is clearly winning this whole thing, Portugal has the sexiest striker in the whole cup, Chile is the sleeper of the tournament, Bosnia-Herzegovina (right?) is hungry for some recognition, and if there's one thing we learn year after year it's to NEVER sleep on Honduras. Yes, I know Germany and Portugal are in the bracket of death together and that I sort of need them both to beat the U.S. for me to win, which sucks, but if you're playing for keeps* then you have to take talent above all else. Let's fuckin go Honduras!
Play the game with your friends. Have fun and win money. Or be a loser. Up to you.
* Playing for keeps to my friends means nobody ever pays anybody anything.
