83-year-old grandfather Richard Underwood’s extremely racist remarks about minorities were excused once again by his daughter Katherine on Sunday.
“That’s just how he was raised.” She explained her two children, Bobby (9) and Elizabeth (7), “He's old. He comes from a different era. ”
Earlier that day Bobby was surprised to hear his Grandfather rant and rave about "that colored guy living in the white house!”
When Bobby asked his mother what Grandpa meant she responded, once again, by excusing his racist views as just being part of "a generation that's used to thinking differently, that's all."
Around town, Richard Underwood has been overheard referring to all people of Asian heritage as “those shifty Japs”, telling inappropriate Pollack jokes at church and accusing the local bank manager of “Jewing” him.
“He doesn’t hate black people. In his day it was okay to call African Americans coloreds, and he loves your mommy very much,” Katherine assured her concerned children right after Mr. Underwood referred to her as "that divorced cunt daughter of mine."
