NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – It was a harrowing scene at a McDonald’s in Queens after a man walked into the restaurant with a knife sticking out of his back.
The incident occurred around 10 a.m. Tuesday at the McDonald’s on Sutphin Boulevard and 91st Street in Jamaica. The victim was stabbed in the back, but managed to walk down the block and into the restaurant, witnesses said.
“I heard everybody screaming and it was a lot of commotion,” witness Tromaine Yancey told CBS 2′s Don Champion. “The guy came and he was standing there with a knife in his back and it was a kitchen knife.”
Investigators said minutes earlier, witnesses saw several men fighting on the street corner.“He was on the phone, I’m pretty sure he was on the phone talking to somebody in his family or a loved one or something, he was talking to them and telling them it might be the last time he’s speaking to them,” Yancey said.
Another witness who works in a nearby food truck told 1010 WINS’ Gary Baumgarten the incident stemmed from a fight that happened on Monday. “They came and stabbed him. They had a fight yesterday,” he said.
Shocked customers ditched their food to help make sure the victim didn’t fall onto his back until emergency responders arrived.
The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital in serious condition, Champion reported.
Police are looking to speak with two men who they believe had been arguing with the victim before he stumbled into the McDonald’s with blood pouring out of his back.
Overreact a little more here will ya, CBS? He's fiiine. It's just Queens livin, baby. There's very little information about this dude or what went down, and you know why? Cus nobody there really gave a shit. "Oh damn, that dudes got a knife in his back... Okay, I'll taaake, uh, a number 3 and a small oreo McFlurry."
Seriously, most New York reactions of all time here. Look at that picture! I don't think you can care less if you tried, and I mean that very literally. And the food truck workers comments? Spot on. Would absolutely love to hear how that interview went down:
- "Can you tell us what happened here sir?"
- "Uh, what do you want to know? They got in to a fight yesterday and they came and stabbed him."
- "Right, but who is this mysterious 'they'? "
- "I don't fuckin know, just the guys that were on the corner yesterday with him. Look man are you gonna order somethin?"
End of discussion.
This is just CBS New York trying to make a story out of nothin. I mean sure, the picture is a little crazy, but really, if you're a New Yorker I want you to ask yourself this: if you're in a McDonald's in Queens and a guy walks in with a knife stuck in his back, are you surprised? Do you stop ordering your food? Do you even think about it again that day? No, no, and no. You knew full well when you made the decision to venture in to that establishment that you had to have your head on a swivel, cus you may see some wild shit. Par for the course, CBS, come back to me when a guy has a spear impaling his body at IHOP or something.
P.S. No chance that dude was "calling loved ones to say goodbye", alright Yancey? I don't know who he was calling, but with a hat like that I'm saying his bookie. Dude just screams avid gambler. He knows he's got some time in the hospital coming up, gotta get those last baseball and world cup bets in before hittin the operating table for a few days.
