Bontrager allegedly entered the home overnight through an unlocked sliding glass door in the rear of the house. When the homeowner woke up at about 7:20 a.m. and saw the suspect, she roused him from his sleep and asked why he was there. The suspect apologized and started pacing around the home, only to leave when the victim said she was calling the police, according to NBC-2.com.
Officers arrived at the home at 8 a.m., at which point the victim discovered that her wallet, license, credit cards, cash and personal checks were missing, according to Bradenton.com.
... In Florida.
Look I'm gonna give this guy a break on this one. He's just trying to maximize his burglary game, and to do that you need experience. You need to put in the hours, and I'm sure he'd had a fuckin long day of burglaring and was exhausted. Not to mention scientists say that if you really want to improve your skills in something, do it 45 minutes before you go to bed because your body and mind will retain more. Timothy Bontranger* here is nothing if not a man of science, so I'm sure he was just pushing his biological clock to the max in an attempt to get even better at burglary.
But of course he made the one fatal mistake that we all make when we hit max exhaustion: he went in for a quick lay on the couch. Deadly. Your back hits that cushion, the eyelids start feeling more and more like anvils, the weird blend of dreams and reality starts to set in, and the next thing you know you're out cold until morning. Unfortunately, as good as I'm sure he's getting at robbing, his little nap made him fuck up like the number 1 thing you can't fuck up to be a good burglar, which is don't get caught. So actually, I feel kinda bad** for Timmy, only because I'm seeing a lot of wasted effort thrown out the window because of untimely sleep. We've all been there before, man. Chin up, you'll rob better next time.
PS. Okay actual scary part, though, definitely him pacing back and forth after getting woken up. There's no way he's not considering murdering you at that point, if you're the one who woke him up, and that is legit terrifying. I'm sure for him, too. Like shit got real for him super quick. Went from a nice little evening B&E to "holy shit I have to kill a person cus I got caught like an idiot." Good thing he just took off cus that would actually be horrific.
* Bontranger sounds like a title of rank in Lord of the Rings.
** No I don't.
