This fucking world. I'll tell you what, after last night, I'm officially Team White Walker. Ice army of destruction all the way. Just fuckin take this shit-disaster of a world and demolish it to pieces. Wake Jon Snow's dead ass up, make him your general and plow Westeros hard and deep.
In all honesty, what has this show ever given us in the way of hope to believe that there is anything worth holding out for? Like what good scenarios do we really have left to root for? Tyrion and Daenerys? Yeah I mean obviously that's gonna be sweet, but those dragons need to step their shit up. Honestly? None too impressed with homeboy's performance in the coliseum fight last week. That was like 50 dudes with spears and they had him on the ropes. If you're selling me that this creature is capable of single-handedly destroying armies, then he best be taking down a coliseum full of cronies with much more efficiency and, really, confidence. "Oh you didn't read the books, the dragons are still..." Yeah I fucking know they're still growing, dick. I'm just saying if you're a fucking dragon then you better bring a stronger game to the table when you come swooping in to save your queen.
Who else? Bran? Apparently his story is the most interesting, so say the book readers. I'll believe it when I see it. Sure, I've found his story interesting so far but he's no Jonny Snow or Oberyn or even Arya, who's apparently now blind, cus fuck you why wouldn't she be? But I'll say this about Bran: he better have something big up his sleeve, cus while he was gone this season the world went to shit and it's gonna take a BIG TIME move to get me off Team White Walker. I'm talking bring Jon Snow, Robb Stark, and the now fully grown ghost son of Robb back from the dead to defeat the Walkers, then worg your way in to the brain of a dragon to obliterate King's Landing in the name of Daenerys, who, accompanied by Tyrion, will then team up with the Stark/Stark/Snow trio to overtake the Bolton's and rescue Sansa... I really don't think I can settle for less than that at this point. I'm mentally battered. Either that scenario plays out perfectly or look for #TeamWhiteWalker shirts on the site's store real soon.
P.S. For real though, we don't know shit about the White Walkers. Like, what's their deal? Why are we assuming their purpose is just straight up evil? Maybe this is some X-men scenario where they're the next form of evolution and are just tryin to survive and thrive. We're just getting it from the human side of the story so that's who we're sympathetic to, but I think we gotta give the Walkers a chance to tell their story. There's no way their culture can be anymore fucked up than what's already in this world, anyway.
P.P.S. Who am I kidding, this show's incredible I'm just venting. The one thing they do so well is humanizing everyone. I mean every major character (besides Ramsay) has their moment where you have to acknowledge that they are a person, no matter how much you hate them. Joffrey was the biggest prick of all time, but the way he died and just the image of a teenage boy helplessly dying in his mother's arms forced you to see him in some form of a sympathetic light, even if only briefly. We saw it again last night with Cersei. Just one of the most difficult to watch scenes I've ever witnessed in anything, be it film, TV, theater, life, etc. At that moment, all of the awful things we've seen her do hid away, and we were left with a very harrowing and literal vision of a broken woman stripped down to her most naked and vulnerable state. That walk was incredibly hard to watch, but the scene as a whole speaks to this show's unique ability flip the pre-conceived notions of how we're to connect with protagonists and antagonists completely on their heads and constantly make you question who is and isn't worth "rooting for".
Another great season in the books. Oh and speaking of in the books: suck it, book-readers. How's it feel being on our level and not knowing shit about what happens next with J Snow? Time to wallow in the filth like the rest of us.
